I was experiencing a big problem using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 local view. I have a green folder appearing, however all the sub files which are meant to appear. The files are perfectly accessible on my desktop,however are not showing on dreamweaver for some odd reason. I experienced this problem a few days ago. Without the sub files appearing underneath the green folder, I can no longer update the content of my website. I would be greatful if someone could give me steps to resolve this problem.

I have deleted the WinFileCache file. Furthermore, I have completed the steps on the link you sent me. I followed the options for windows vista. I also deleted the content in the personal configuration folder. Next, I opened up dreamweaver. Carrying out these steps did not resolve the proble, I still cant view the sub file content in the green folder. The only thing that appears is the green folder itself, without any files.

In addition to this, when I open the personal configuration folder, the WinFileCache file appears, along with all the others files. In your Files tab, you should have 2 dropdown menus, one with your site name on the left and another that says Local view on the right.

Also, what happens when you double click the green folder in your Files tab? DW displays files that the operating system responds with for local view. Can you check file permissions on the folder in your OS? The setting is on Local View. Is there further advice you could provide me? I am able to view the file permission in the personal configuartion folder, do you want me to change anything in the property settings of this folder?

There's no way you have 2 folders on your computer with the same name, one with your files and the other empty? If you created another site definition still same problem there's something wrong with Dreamweaver installation I suppose. Can you try re-installing dw? Or it should be an issue with your os communicating with dw. When I click the explore button it says the folder is empty. This problem is mainly the local file site problem underneatth the green folder. If I open any other file on my files tab in dreamweaver, for example, 'desktop' it shows sub items.

This problem is only occouring in dreamweaver, all my files are accessible on my Local Disk F. Myabe dreamweaver is saving, it to a different location when I define a new site, with the same name, I cant change that. Basically, dreamweaver is showing no content apart from a green folder, if I go to my local disk f and open the html file via dreamweaver option, I am able to open the file successfully. Look at the path of the folder that you opened in it's address bar from the Explore function in DW.

It will be different from the folder with your files. Verify the location in the "Where on your computer do you want to store your files" dialog. Make sure this starts with F: If it helps, be sure to have the correct folder open on your desktop as well so you can verify the exact same location from it's address bar.
